Your availability: Photonics Engineer Nr ref.: /JOBS.pl For a client of ours, we are looking for a Research and Development Photonics Engineer Start date : ASAP Duration : At least 5 months Location : Leuven area, Belgium Language : English Function description As a Research and Development engineer your primary role is to manage and conduct the technical follow-up of advanced engineering projects and sponsored applied research projects, involving the development of photonic integrated circuits, with a high business potential for the organization. In this role you will interact with leading photonic research institutes, providing specific expertise. Responsibilities Project management of feasibility projects with the aim to reach a technology readiness level Design of integrated photonic components in different platforms for prototyping through MPW runs or dedicated runs in foundries to be selected Interaction with engineers involved in the packaging studies Interaction with simulation and modelling engineers of your team Define and follow up of the qualification and environmental testing of pigtailed and packaged devices Failure analysis and debugging of proof of concept devices Qualifications Master in photonics engineering with first working experience in a R&D environment, PhD in photonics engineering, PhD in applied physics Team player that can deal with ambiguity and high risk projects Creative mind set Problem solving mentality Driven to become an expert in the physics of opto-electronic devices Driven to become acquainted with photonic 3D printing Experience with one of the following integrated optics technologies, PLC glass, SOI, SiN or InP Experience with photonics simulations and with Photon Design and/or Lumerical is an asset Experience with mask design is an asset Fluent in English Good communication skills, both written and oral Good technical presentation skills Michael Bailey International is acting as an Employment Business in relation to this vacancy.
