    BioMarin is a growing, research intensive biotechnology company focused on being the best development partner to ensure patients with rare conditions get access to the most optimal therapies for their condition. The purpose of the job is to uphold, promote and continue this vision within a defined locality and according to local regulations.


    Engage with established KOLs and supporting 'rising stars'; within the therapeutic areas of interest to the company
    Understand the market access issues both local and national and be able to find solutions for product uptake
    Support and attend national and local meetings in the therapeutic areas of interest to the company
    Work ethically and responsibly with patient organizations
    Work cooperatively with different external stakeholders in the furtherance of disease awareness initiatives in the defined area.
    Develop effective relationships with internal stakeholders such as marketing and market access to optimize the realization of company objectives
    Be the local ambassador for BioMarin so that we become the partner of choice for payers, HCPs and patient organization's
    In conjunction with Phase IV study personnel provide and support and follow on post marketing surveillance programs
    Report any pharmacovigilance issues within the timelines specified in the relevant SOPs to the Country Manager/Area Director and BioMarin Drug Safety
    Oversee all activities related to the marketing and promotion of BioMarin's products in assigned territory


    The role will involve setting out a business plan (agreed by the Country Director) and being accountable for managing projects within that framework
    The company will expect the employer to operate within and be conversant with the current local guidelines
    The TM is responsible for in country marketing, selling and promotion.


    Given the sometimes highly technical nature of the material the post holder would be expected to have a biological sciences degree and may come from a pharmacy, biological sciences or chemistry background. Previous 'specialty medicine' front line selling skills are a perquisite as are the demonstration of highly attuned negotiation skills
    Solid understanding of the local national health system
    Ability to quickly gain practical knowledge and understanding of key product areas and customers.
    Knowledge of industry and local market conditions.


    The candidate will be comfortable working with minimal supervision and in a field based setting. Given the complexity of the role, applicants are being sought who have a solid experience working within a small research based pharmaceutical environment.

    The ideal candidate should have Dutch, French and English language skills. This role will have an average of 70% travel.


    At this stage the post holder will not be expected to supervise or manage others but this may change in the future so the capacity and willingness to do so will be important

    The post holder must be prepared and comfortable with significant:

    Travel - expected to be both national and international as attendance at such meetings as deemed necessary for the purposes of fulfilling the role.
    Change - BioMarin has a diversified pipeline and the post holder will be able to quickly come up to speed with the market conditions surrounding new therapy areas
    Competition - increasing the orphan space is becoming more competitive. The applicant will be able to 'sell' competitively and be happy to operate creatively at a fast pace when required.
    Self-direction - the business prides itself on being highly productive and efficient. The post holder will be comfortable with minimal levels of supervision and will be happy to drive projects and programmes either on their own or as part of a smaller team.
