Ultimately, they are seeking to transform Exeter into a city of the future that is a better and more sustainable place to live They are currently recruiting for an Energy Modelling Consultant in Building and Energy Modelling to join our growing Energy team. With some of the most ambitious low carbon building and city energy pilots in the country, the role offers the ideal platform for a specialist in the physics of buildings and energy systems to develop cutting-edge models and real world deployments. As a core part of the energy team, the Energy Modelling Consultant will provide specialist advice and modelling that will underpin a range of technical projects ranging from desk-based research to consultancy reports, to large-scale design, build and monitor. Essential Criteria . 1st Class degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Statistics or Mathematics, . Demonstrable real-world experience in building energy modelling . Good overview of the energy system from power station to plug. . Leading-edge knowledge of automated energy technologies including communications protocols and hardware/software interfaces. . Ability to discuss the practical pro's, con's and costs of a range of technology options for use in buildings. . Exposure to/interest in programming languages would be beneficial. You're a champion in your field with a rigorous, disciplined approach and ruthless attention to detail. Complicated modelling comes naturally to you, and you're comfortable working with energy data. You have a keen interest in renewables, technology and future energy systems. You like to experiment and try new things, but you are also clear about what needs to be done in order to deliver progress in a project. You will be the interface between building energy professionals, non-test users and a team of data scientists/financial modellers. With an inquisitive nature and sharp analytical skills, you'll be a natural at using evidence to question, challenge, solve problems and tell stories beyond just pointing to the numbers.
