    We are looking for a bright HR Manager to join our team - your role will be varied and working in a fast paced commercial environment.

    Darwin Recruitment has over 160 staff across 4 international offices, our head office in Billericay are looking for a motivated & confident HR Manager to join the team.

    Core responsibility:

    The HR & Development Manager's primary purpose is to develop, provide advice and implement policies relating to the effective use of personnel within the organisation. This will include the provision of tactical and strategic HR advice and implementation of effective training interventions to development staff in order to deliver the strategic objectives of the company.

    Core Responsibilities

    General human resources

    • Working closely with the sales business, increasingly in a consultancy role, assisting line managers to understand and implement policies and procedures;
    • Promoting equality and diversity as part of the culture of the organisation;
    • Liaising with a wide range of people involved in policy areas, this is to include specifically staff performance;
    • Management of all HR records across the company;
    • Developing and implementing policies on issues such as performance management, equal opportunities, disciplinary procedures and absence management;
    • Preparing, controlling and ensuring compliance with staff handbooks;
    • Advising on pay and other remuneration issues, including promotion and benefits;
    • Employee engagement, to include employee satisfaction surveys, distribution of the company culture and the surveying of progress;
    • Assisting with salary reviews and annual performance appraisals;
    • Exit interviews;
    • Ownership, management and understanding of staff attrition;
    • Interpreting and advising on employment law;
    • Dealing with grievances and implementing disciplinary procedures;
    • Developing with line managers HR planning strategies which consider immediate and long-term staff requirements;
    • Assistance with change management where this involves staff issues
    • Ad hoc special projects related to human capital within the business

    Internal recruitment

    • Working with the Talent Acquisition Consultant to identify the most efficient source of candidates, taking in to account all aspects of an employee journey with the business
    • Management of the sourcing process into the business
    • Identification of areas for improvement of the internal recruitment process
    • Create and maintain a sourcing, interviewing and on-boarding process for the business
    • Report on the function to the Board.

    Skills/Experience/Competencies Required (Mandatory/Desirable)

    • Should be qualified as MCIPD (M)
    • Strong understanding of the commercial impact that HR has on the profitability of the business (M)
    • Capable of keeping up to date on employment issues and trends from a legal and best practice perspective to both minimise risk to the business and gain competitive advantage (M)
